About the Artist

Watermark Designs

Mark Carlson and his sons Cory and Justin are formally trained artisans with an intense desire to create one-of-a-kind heirloom quality works of art.

Mark started his career as a human resources officer with the U.S. Air Force and credits this background with his ability to tackle the myriad of issues associated with running a business that specifically caters to the discriminating needs and tastes of his many clients. As he puts it, "No two commissions are alike, and that's by design. We want our clients to have a unique piece of art that they're immensely proud of owning."

He has studied Art, Literature and Business at Oxford, Texas Lutheran, and Central Michigan Universities. He holds a Master's Degree in Business from Central Michigan.

Cory and Justin have completed numerous formal programs in metalworking, art and design. Collectively they bring a fun and creative energy to Watermark Designs that ensures every piece is the best it can be.

The Watermark Design team has trained at such fine art & design institutions/schools as: The University of Minnesota, Turley Forge, Bill Pieh Resource for Metalwork, Ozark School of Blacksmithing, Big Blu Power Hammer School, New England School of Metalworking and the John C. Campbell Folk School.

Their work can be found in over twenty five states and several foreign countries.
